i don't like that they don't give you the prices on there. i'm still leaning towards shrockworks.

Having seen the Skid Row plates and the Shrock plates, I'd disagree that the Skid Row's are better. They have less coverage than the Shrocks.

PLUS they are powdercoated, which for skidplates is actually not good, because once they get scraped up pretty good, rust forms under the powdercoat and it all flakes off. With painted plates, you can just touch up the scrapes -- but you can't touch up powdercoat.

I have BOTH Skid-Row, AND Shrock Skid Plates. (Took the Skid-Row plates off...)

I ran the S-R stuff in my Jeepin days too.

The S-R Stuff is very well made, and the powder coat holds up great....less to touch up.

I'll say the same thing about the Shrock plates...I got my Shrock skids powder coated, and my other Shrock stuff's powder coat is amazing....super tough.

I went with Shrock' s Skid Plates over getting Skid-Row's again because Shrock's offer better protection....and, its a better design.

Skid-Row's Plates are excellent though, they did their job...except they left some parts vulnerable to damage...and those parts are now able to be protected by the Shrock Plates.

So - Eric and Skid-Row are great, no complaints about their Jeep Stuff, or their X stuff as far as quality, personality, etc.

The Shrock Stuff is just better - that's all.

:D

OK, what do my Skid-Row plates look like after extensive skid plate testing?

In short, they are beat up, but not dead.

They don't cover as much as the Shrock - but all of them are 3/16" steel, and the attachements are similar.

If doing it over, now that they're other options besides S-R, I'd take the Shrockworks.

Holy crap TJ! Looks like you went to grind a log!

LOL

Well, it did take years to get like that.

:D

A few black trails at PAP or RC with open diffs and stock 4.6 gears, and it adds up.

Guys take your skid plates and sliders to a Line-X dealer...its about the same price and never, never comes off....and will never rust...just order all your stuff bare metal,Im getting the shrockworks front bumper for my 06' X and the bare metal is $90 cheaper and the line-X guys are going to spray it for $120...and it will last longer than the truck

Line-X?

Won't that get scraped off on rocks?

#14 ·
you can never get it off....my dad had it in his truck bed and a forklift crushed the whole wheel well almost flat with a load of block and it didnt even flake off.....plus its guarenteed(spelling?) for life...believe me it is the best,Im going to do my sliders and my lower rocker's under the doors that comes black from the factory....they use line-X on all the block in the pentagon now and its bomb proof...hope that answers your question...I will never use powdercoated skid plates or bumpers..trust me on the line-X

Skeezer, instead of spend $120 for one skidplate, save the money and do not get it powdercoated and then get some Herculiner for $90 with a $20 mail in rebate nad do all of your skidplates at once and save way more money!

You are still getting ripped off.

I am all about the home mechanic because I am all about saving money. You live and you learn.

How am I getting ripped off? I save $90 by getting the bumper in bare metal and then paying $120 to have it sprayed with Line-X inside and out making it indestructable for $30.Thats a rip off???? I dont understand...Guys am I missing something? Believe me I do as much as I can myself Im a certified Mechanic,I do all my own installs,Lift kits,stereo,engine,drivetrain....why am I taking a beating over this $30 bucks?????

Skeezer, sorry that you took it the wrong way bro. I was not trying to give you a beating over this. So, what I am saying is this, order everything bare metal at once, buy one coat of Herculiner for $90 and a $20 mail in rebate from Pep boys. You will pay $70 total for it. Add that to the savings for each individual skid plate being ordered in bare metal and you saved major cash.
