go with 36 psi and try and get them within at least 0.5 psi of each other. Should go out after about a mile of driving and stay off.

mine starts going off when they get around 31 psi. But they have to all be pretty close in pressure to each other IIRC. I'll check my owners manual.

Low tire pressure warning:
If the vehicle is being driven with low tire pressure,
the warning light will illuminate.
When the low tire pressure warning light illuminates,
you should stop and adjust the tire pressure
to the recommended COLD tire pressure
shown on the Tire and Loading Information label.
The low tire pressure warning light does not
automatically turn off when the tire pressure is
adjusted. After the tire is inflated to the recommended
pressure, the vehicle must be driven at
speeds above 16 MPH (25 km/h) to activate the
TPMS and turn off the low tire pressure warning
light. Use a tire pressure gauge to check the tire
pressure.

If the TPMS is not functioning properly, the low
tire pressure warning light will flash for approximately
1 minute when the ignition switch is
placed in the ON position. The light will remain on
after the 1 minute. Have the system checked by a
NISSAN dealer.

I also had this issue when I put on my Toyo's.

The TPS was off on the way home from the shop, but after 20 min of driving, the light came on. I thought it was a tire pressure issue, but all 4 tires were all the same...

I take my X back to the shop and they use their TPS tool to check whether the sensors were working.

They found one sensor that had a weak signal, so they replaced it (no charge). They filled the tire up and I went home... 20 minutes later, the TPS light came back on...WTF right?!

It turns out that when you reset the TPS computer, you need to ground it and the shop needed a special tool to get this done. They found out after talking to a Nissan tech.

If you happened to change your sensors, you may want to let your shop know about having to ground the comp.

Note: This is only for 2nd Gens

other way around,,, so this is why i'm getting mixxed thoughts.. Keyz18 might be right,, but i don't know why it's not flashing... It might of gotten damaged when i got new tires put on.. But what makes me confuse about that is it worked fine up to a week after i got the new tires

A few thoughts about TPMS on the Xterra:

The light will illuminate if there is a low tire (below 32psi, I think) and/or if the tires have different pressures (+/- 2psi, IIRC). You will need to air up the tires and drive for awhile before the sytem resets (I don't know what the actual speed / distance requirements are, though).

If you replace a sensor, the light will initially blink at startup, and then stay on. To fix this, you will need to have the computer reprogrammed to read the new sensor.

The computer in the X can only be programmed to read 4 sensors at any one time. That means even if you have a TPMS in your spare, it wouldn't do you any good.

Nigtrogen will leak from the tire at a slower rate than air, but it won't solve a problem with the sensor itself.

Driving with the light on is not a big deal. My light has been on for 5K miles (I had to replace a wheel and sensor) and I have no problem ignoring it. I really don't want to pay the dealer $100 to reprogram the computer for the new sensor. Just be glad you don't have an early 2005 that had an annoying beep along with the light.

I didn't know about the 4 sensor limit, good to know.

The downside to using nitrogen in your tires is that if you find yourself trapped underwater you can't use your tires for a breath of air (yeah I might be watching too much mythbusters...) - Actually isn't the reason to use nitrogen over regular air because its more stable and less prone to expansion/contraction with heat?

I remember watching in disbelief as my friend silenced an annoying beeping in his car by using a hammer to drive a screwdriver through the buzzer module in his fuse box, while it was buzzing!

When I had BFG A/T's on my other cars I'd run them around 40psi as I think the max press was 44-50, though my truck really did better at around 48psi.

I'm pretty happy with the ride quality and on/off road performance with the tires on my X @ 40psi now, the last thing I really want in a top heavy suv is a mushy sidewall.

After a desert trip in Oman, I stopped at a garage and told the guy to inflate my tire with 35 psi, after five minutes the warning light went off, after 200 km, the light went on again, when I checked the pressure I was quite suprised that each tire was inflated with 67 psi, I deflated the tire (35 psi), since then the blinking light doesnt go off, I will go see the Nissan dealer next week, ....anyway, I am very happy that the tires didn't blast....
