I am looking for a way to permanently disable the alarm on my 2002. I found the relay inside the fuse box under the hood on passenger side right behind the battery. The diagram on the fuse block lid identifies which relay it is. This relay also operates the headlamps so would need to keep them operational. Not sure if this is the good, best or only way to disable the alarm, or if I can jumper it so the headlamps continue to be operational. Feedback appreciated.

So my wife 2000 battery started crapping out alt and bat tested fine. She noticed that the security light was not working as normal. Could this be causing the batt to drain and will what you said disable the system or just reset it?
thanks in advance for any help.
It could be your door locks draining the battery. Mine were sticky and not operating smoothly so when I used the key fob to lock the doors, they would only move partially. I believe they were continuously trying to lock and draining the battery. I started locking the doors manually and the battery quit draining. The locks need to be lubed.
