I'm going to buy a 2011 Xterra. I'm looking at the S 4x4 AT right now. Seems to be the best deal. Since I had a gen 1 in the passed I'm not too familiar w/ the gen 2 x. When comparing the different trim levels it says the MT X's have a dana rear diff. I was under the impression that all gen 2's were Dana 44's. Are there two different diffs used on the gen 2 now?

The 2000 - 2004's had a code on the door jamb placard, HG__, that told you.
I don't know if the 2nd gens do or not.
The tried and true way is to simply mark the driveshaft, and spin the tires, and see how many times the shaft rotates per tire rotation.
