Figures the 2006 year is missing. Good thing the 07 and 06 were virtually identical.
Anybody find a source for the 2006 FSM?

Is the 2005 or 2007 FSM a better substitute?

Excellent thread

Thanks so much for this thread. I downloaded the 2000 Xterra manual when I first joined a few years back and have LOVED having it. Just brought home a 2012 Pro-4X today, and grabbed that manual from the link in this thread. One question, where is the "Index" page. I downloaded all files from that directory, and none of them seem to be an "Index". When I click on the link "Quick Reference Index" in the left side of Adobe reader, nothing happens. All other links within that document and on the left menu work fine, just that first one to the index does not work.

Would really like to have the index page as a start point, so if anyone knows what I may be doing wrong, would appreciate the heads up.

Thanks to all for all that you do ;~))

Aloha~

FWD and IDX not in the 2012 list

Hey AMG1982;

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, the 2012 docs have neither the FWD or the IDX.

Any other thoughts? Do I use one from a previous year? If so, what year?

Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this for me.

I have the 2011 manuals. The "idx" is missing as well. The "fwd" pdf is listed, but the hyperlinks don't work, and clicking them won't automatically send you to the right chapter. It is handy for trying to figure out what file (abbreviation) you need to go to though.

Edit: I just figured out that I was wrong about the hyperlinks in the "fwd" file. They do indeed work, but I had to save all the files to my hard drive first.

Thanks for the reply Mogman. Well I did download all files from the beginning, and there is no FWD.PDF or IDX.PDF in the 2012 listings, so not sure what to do here. As I mentioned in my initial thread on this topic, I can see the links on the left when I open a file, and all links work, EXCEPT the one to take me to the index.

Any additional info appreciated.

BTW, nice Merc Mogman~

Cheers!

Figured out a workaround

OK, can not find the fwd.pdf for the 2012 manual at this location (Index of /FSM/Xterra/2012_xterra). If anyone has it, please let me know and see that it gets added to the url above. Based on the reply by Mogman (that he did have a 2011 fwd.pdf), I grabbed the 2011 fwd.pdf, downloaded it into the folder with my 2012 manual, and all is working great. I have not tested all links, but I clicked on a dozen or so and all took me to the proper sub files. Only problem is the details in the opening pages of the fwd document all refer to the model year 2011 and some of the measurements may be off, but I can always confirm them in other parts of the FSM and/or owners manual.

Anyone who is having a similar problem that I was having (no index page and links to Quick Reference Index were not working), here is the deal. Grab the index page from the nearest year to what you have. If it is for a >=2005 vintage, you would get the fwd.pdf from the year closest to you. Otherwise grab the idx.pdf from the nearest year if it is for a <=2004. This should suffice as a workaround for your FSM index page. Do not try and use a 2004 idx.pdf with a >=2005 FSM as it may not work. Same thing with using a fwd.pdf for anything <=2004, probably won't work.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks to all who help provide this valuable resource.
