If it cranks but will not start with the water level you are talking about could be a number of things. Distributor full of water or submerged/soaked ECU would be where I would start. Also need to check for water in the engine oil.

You can take the computer apart, unscrewing the assembly screws and pulling the case off.

Then look for moisture, drying it off with a hairdryer on cold (don't put too much heat on the motherboard or you'll be doing the screwing up!).

But, a little diagnosis here might help out.

Does it have spark? Does it have fuel?

Check for spark by pulling a spark plug wire off and turning it over. If you get shocked or see a spark coming out, then you have spark.

Take off the fuel line from either side at the intake. If you see fuel coming out when you first turn the key on, then obviously you're getting fuel. If not, then look at the fuel sending unit on top of the gas tank, accessible via the access plate under the right rear seat. May want to check ALL of your fuses first, just to be sure you didn't pop one while being under water. The connectors are moisture proof to a degree, not submarine proof though.

Yes, the computer tells the distributor to fire when needed.

So all of your fuses are good? Even under the hood?

I'll see if there's a pinout for the distributor and see if I can point to where to look for power. But it sounds like if you're getting fuel, your computer is still operating (the computer controls the relay for the fuel pump too).

Make sure you have power at the Black/Purple wire at the distributor. Pull the connector off and, with the key on, check for 12v there. If not, then look hard at fuse 27 (10amp, far right, 3rd one down inside the cabin) to see if it's blown.
