i have a 2000 nissan xterra this mornig it was a little chilly out and a little wet out when i first started my car it idled very rough and my service engine light came on so i went to auto zone and had them read the codes they said my whole distributor was bad but as the day got warmer and everything dried out the light went off and car ran like normal so assuming there was a little water inside the distributor does this mean i should just try to replace the distributor cap instead of the entire distributor first since there is a huge price difference? i ask cause this same thing happened to friends car a few years ago and was caused just from a crack in the cap but the rest of the distributor was in good condition. thank you for any help on this issue
