Have a 2015 xterra with the 4.0 6 VQ40DE engine. Just wondering what brand and weight of oil people think works the best in that engine. I do 75% highway 25% city driving and was looking for some tips for my future oil changes. Thanks.

FSM calls for 5w30. Any reputable oil brand will work. Need to choose between conventional and synthetic. Synthetic is better in a lot of ways but you'll need to run it forever after switching.

Amsoil is awesome, but expensive, but if you factor in the 18000 mile interval, it actually works out to be ok price wise...Redline is also awesome, also pricey, mobil 1 is alright, royal purple is good...and I use either 5w30 or 10w30, depending on the vehicle, but usually 5w30 in the vg's because of their tight tolerances, I would assume the VQ would be the same
