What is this part called and can it be replaced?

I recently got into a car accident which wasn’t my fault. The other car who hit me is not taking liability so I’m on the road to getting the body parts damaged changed out myself. As of now I need a new bumper, radiator support. I also need a new one of these circled in the picture above as it is bent. Does anyone know what this part is called and if it can be replaced? Anything helps. Thank you! It is a 2001 Nissan Xterra

They are. The other driver was even given a citation. And his insurance company still isn’t taking liability. I have no idea. But I really want my ride fixed. It still runs.

The part you have red circled looks like a uni-body section. A professional body shop would be able to tell you if they can replace in whole or cut off the damaged front portion and weld in some new support metal as required. Your insurance company should be getting involved and bring pressure to bear on the other drivers insurance.

You can ask around the various businesses where the collision happened to see if any of their security cameras may have picked it up. A camera is an unbiased witness.

I have a dual dash cam in both of my vehicles. If this were to happen to me, I'd have video that would prove whether it was my fault, their fault, or shared.

Yep, get your insurance company involved. Most policies include insurance against uninsured drivers. That should cover you, and then your company will go after the other company for the costs.

I'm sure that it can be fixed. How difficult it will be will depend on whether it's just that sub-fender section, or if it was pushed back and there's hidden damage.

You'll also need to inspect the frame and the suspension and steering components to make sure none are bent or broken.

The insurance companies are there to do the heavy lifting. Put them to work. You paid for it in advance.

Fender

I think he's referring to the under structure that's all bent. towards the front, and most likely throughout. It's a part of the crumple zone of the unibody frame that sits on top of the ladder frame. To replace it these days would most likely require finding a donor vehicle in a junkyard (pick your part) is your friend and then cutting it off (without damaging the actual part). This would likely require drilling out some tack welds. There are small hole saws specifically made for this, or my personal favorite, a step drill bit, which I feel actually works better.
