Yesterday my gauge stopped working. Stuck at the bottom. I have checked all fuses and swapped around all relay I could.
I ground out the single wire sensor and gauge does nothing.
Does anyone here have a wiring schematic on this circuit. My local wreckers are slim pickings on xterra's.
Never experienced weird issues with gauge just suddenly dead. Have verified resistance on sensor does go down as temp goes up.
Thanks for any help

No input here..dang..
Tried another dash today with no luck. Found one wire on back of cluster is same colour and gauge as one at temp sender, but no continuity. Opened up harness by sender and inspected. BUt nothing obvious. Can't believe no one has schematics here.
Guess I'm calling stealership :(

I had the same problem and the single wire connector to the temp sensor was corroded. I hit it with CNC electronics cleaner and it worked fine. That unprotected sensor connection catches a ton of crap under the hood. But by your posts, I'm sure you've already checked this.

Nissan gave me schematics troubleshooting info. Found no continuity from sender to dash cluster. Was unable to find issue in harness without pulling dash out. Clips and wires all look clean.
Ran New wire with loom to dash. Issue resolved.
Can post info from Nissan if anyone wants it. Can't be the only one that will have this problem. Truck is otherwise in good shape, hard to believe harness issues already.

Glad it's fixed I love exploring the mtns with this truck. Fit 32inch ko2s under it. Goes everywhere. :)

The schematics for that and everything else related to your vehicle are in that link above that I posted. I recommend downloading it all so you have it on hand... save a trip to the dealer next time ;)

I don't need to RTFM!

Well there was that one time when the boats engine quit in the middle of the channel and as the official bilge rat was responsible for getting it restarted quickly before chaos ensued. The rest of the crew was not impressed when I started reading it out loud, "Congratulations on your purchase of a Ford Lehman......"

Haven't posted to a forum in years sure enough someone who lives in his mom's basement and couldn't diagnose himself out of a wet paper bag has to troll the post

Don't feel too bad about being told to Google or RTFM, they are all part of learning to troubleshoot. Unless of course you can always get others to do that for you then you can skip that part. :D

Yeah. Common issues are usually pretty easy to diagnose. Oddball 1 in 1,000,000 wiring issues? Not so easy. If we were all ASE certified master techs who knew the answer to everything we wouldn't be on here skeeting it out for free.

I bill out at $115/hr as a consulting engineer from 9-5. I suppose I could start offering that service on here as well...
