Hi all,
Just purchased an '06 Xterra with 150,000 commuter/highway miles on it. I love it and it drives like a dream, it needs a new caddy converter which I'm having replaced next week, other than that its been great and had all new brakes put in just before I bought it.
Lately it's been making some pretty irritating squealing noises which mainly seem to be coming from the serpentine belt. However; upon purchasing the vehicle the dealership put in a new serpentine belt and it didn't make the squeaking for the first couple hundred miles I put on it. I took it to my mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong with it after taking it apart - belts are all new, pulleys look good. My mechanic had the idea that the type/make of belt may not be meshing well with my car and, if the noise persists, we could try replacing it with a different brand of belt. His only other thought is that the conditioner/lube put on the belt by the dealership is causing the squealing.
I'm wondering if anyone has dealt with this or has any idea what could be going on? Any help greatly appreciated!
