Hi there,
2006 xterra,Purchased back in may 18,000 mi., developed belt noise 2 weeks after purchase, changed to new belt and tensioner, good for another 2weeks, noise came back ?? checked pulley alignment noticed power steering pulley about an 1/8 inch out, no problem to it to work machined as required, cleaned all pulleys with brake cleaner and wire brushes, sqwealing noise back again?? starts out with chirping at start up and goes away as it warms up, as days go by it (the noise) continually gets worse untill its sqwealin all the time,change belt repeat process, any ideas, your imput would be greatly appreciated !!!

did you buy just a bearing or did get whole adj -idler-bearing ?

I swapped out complete belt tensioner assy,Idler bearing looked and felt to be in good shape ?? Maybe I should swap out bearing in idler pulley ??? thanks Steve

yes get the complete idler pulley. you need some special tools to change the bearing and its really easy to damage the new bearing changing it out.

Any luck on replacing the tensioner pulley. I have the same bearing rattle on cold starts!

Have yet to swap out Idler bearing, changed belt again, good to go for another month of quiet operatiobn. W.T.F

Ok so by replacing the belt you got the noise to stop.
