When I start my 06 X it imediately hits 2000 RPM then drops. I think that is way to high for a cold start up. Is there some way to reprogram this to start at a lower RPM? I also read they were proned to timing chain guide failures. How would I know if there is a problem with mine?

I don't think that is a timing chain failure. I accidentally did that to my truck one time. The truck was off and i was teaching someone how to drive and asked them to hit the gas to get a feeling for it. When we started the truck it was idling at 2k just like you said. It went back to normal after 5 minutes though. Don't touch the gas pedal when the car is off. I read someone there is a way to reset the gas pedal position but can't remember where. mines a 2001 however. good luck.

It is supposed to idle higher, to warm it up faster when its cold out.
