A look at 5 parts that could be making your car or truck thirsty

Millions of drivers waste fuel needlessly every day, without even realizing it. Whether by carrying around extra weight or running a vehicle that’s in need of maintenance, bad fuel mileage often creeps up slowly – swilling away your hard-earned money, and contributing to excessive emissions. If you don’t monitor your vehicle’s fuel consumption regularly, increased fuel consumption can be even harder to detect.

Is your ride running at maximum efficiency, or is it wasting your money and polluting needlessly? If you’re not sure, here’s a look at four parts that can be easily replaced and one that should be removed when not in use, as a starting point, to help ensure your car, SUV or pickup isn’t drinking more than its fair share of fuel.

I wonder if I'm the only one following these links to give the site some click pennies?

Not saying those are not great tips, change air filter, plugs, injectors and of course do not run oversize or aggressive tread tires but most such articles feel like click bait fluff. Then again reminding Xterra owners not to install aggressive tires might result in more Xterra's being shod with 205 width Michelin Energy Saver A-S tires. Using those would improve our off road and winter driving skills and result in better fuel mileage.

I kind of agree with with Bitumen Bullet on this. A link to eBay's generic auto tips section is click bait, but that's how they pay the bills. While less aggressive tires will improve your fuel economy, I hardly think most people who are on these forums are concerned with there MPG. With users asking about 33+" tires, lift kits, body armor and steel bumpers, these things rarely go hand in hand with good MPG. My advice to people looking to save on gas, is to buy a small economic 4 cylinder and keep the Xterra for fun.
