Hi all,

I bought my first car last week and I'm proud to say...its an Xterra! (whoop whoop). The guy I bought it from ruined the original tires and put on some jeep tires that are about a quarter inch bigger than the stocks. When I make a tight turn, the tires rub against the stiff flaps making a loud unpleasant sound. I wanna remove the flaps but want someone with experience to let me know how to proceed.

From the new guy, thanks a ton

There are two parts you can remove. First, there is the lower section, which hangs down below the rocker panel level. Second, there is the upper part, which tucks up under the door, and continues into the wheel well. The lower part simply unscrews, I have heard a few people needing to cut some of the extra molding pieces that could stick it together. I doubt you would have to remove the upper as well, but it is 3 screws, two in the wheel well and one under, along with 2 push in clips that you have to yank out. If removing the lower section doesn't solve the problem, then often trimming the upper section can solve the problem without leaving a bear spot where the trim should go. If you need any more help, feel free to write back.
