Hello everybody..I am new to Xterras, but I do
have a bit of automotive repair experience. So, I have a odd question about Knock Sensor relocating. If I get the sensor and wire harness for a '95 Maxima, do I disconnect and/or cut the wire harness to the original (buried) sensor? I would appreciate any and all advice I can get about this..Thank you

I did not remove the original knock sensor when I did mine. When the sensor is untripped it has resistor that the ECM reads in the circuit. If you have an old knock sensor that is tripped, it should be open and not providing any resistance and therefore undetectable by the ECM.

This is the general relocation procedure:

I cannot attest to its efficacy because my knock sensor code returned within the next year after relocating. I did have some misfires though so I'm guessing it tripped my new relocated sensor.

Yeah same here. Ive had several misfires due to junky replacement distributors. But, I transplanted the cam shaft sensor from my OEM distributor and its been running great ever since..
