I was thinking about installing a rear locker for my 2X4 so i can lock in the rear if i need to. Has anyone done this, recommend a certain product, have one for sale.

I want something i can lock in when needed not all the time i like being able to steer in the corners.

I just finished my locker wiring yesterday, and I gotta say, I love this thing!!! I went places in 2wd that I needed 4lo before. I am a beliver that it would make a world of difference in a 2wd X.
proves my point, driver skill > Rig

good points on XF or not i say its worth his while
the only reason he wouldnt be able to keep up with an open 4x4 and bc he cant pull himself up
based on sheer physics a rear locker on a 2wd(with decent tires) will double its capability

you cannot argue this fact
if you loose traction on one tire in on open 2wd without momentum you stop moving - same situation with a locker you will keep moving... or

you get into a situation where your rear axle is flexed bc of the lack of xterra ifs flex and therefore lose traction on one rear tire
same situation with a locker and you would most likely continue forward progress
THIS IS FACT!!.... Any Positrak diff is going to gouge Ruts and keep ya movin...!

I heard someone talking about having to use blocks to float the axle but if you just installed and no blocks thats great. from what i have heard you wanna stay away from having to use the blocks. (Just so you know i have no idea what blocks they were talking about but they went in to float the axle or something like that....)
may weld the rear diff(s) in the runner:mocking:
i told you to do that a while back.. LOL and you said no....
i know what i said fool
i changed my mind
im still up in the air about the front diff though, id prefer not to have to replace a cv every trip we take, ill prob do just the rear
for the front put a locker....
ehh
maaayyyybe a lunchbox locker(mech)
MAYBE
oh ya, and i found a place to get yukon gears for cheapo
$199 but i dunno if its for 2 sets or one set, allpro didnt specify on their website, but i gots an 8" rear and a7.5" front
i would throw the lunch in there.... on that note im going to go and make me some lunch.. LOL
lol
i did a lil more research, and i aint welding shit, lunchbox front and rear FTW
why is that??? whats wrong with welding it up??? robby has done it and hasent had any problems..
its the trouble and cost of "undoing" that mod if i have to, the lunbox for my rear axle can be had from allpro for $189
ill be locked before the end f summer, mark my words
im hoping to get mine running befor the end of summer.. LOL

Yeah, I have never heard anything about blocks with our rear axle or any axle for that matter. I mean, if you wanna keep it cheap and locked all the time, just weld up the spider gears and poof, you have a full time locker. It does have its downsides though. But I gotta tell you, the locker is definitally the way to go. It should have come very early on in my modifications!!
I've actually got 2 superpacked LSD's for sale, $75 each.

I ran a superpacked LSD all through Moab for 2 years, no issued. Tires chirp around corners, but the traction in the rough stuff was unstoppable. Exactly like a spool.

I'm running a spool in the back of the ol' PhoeniX now actually. No worries about nuttin'. If it isn't turning, something's broke.
