Hey guys i am very puzzled on this issue im having.

I have a rattle noise coming from driver side at 2000rpm. The rattle only occurs when the X is moving. I tried recreating the noise in park and in neutral but no noise. I checked the heat shields under the car and none of them seem to be loose. Im lost for words on what this could be and i need help.!!

assuming its an auto tranny since you said park, does it ahppen in every gear? say if you shift into 3 or 2 and drive at 2000rpm does it happen in both 2, 3 and d? or only in d?

This morning I noticed when I put it in 2nd gear and drove the noise wasn't as loud and then when I switched from second gear back to drive it didn't make the noise at all now.

what is the condition and fill level of your tranny fluid? is it full, low and what is the color, texture and smell of the fluid on the dipstick?

It's possible that what you're hearing isn't from the transmission at all, but the suspension, steering or other component due to harmonics at a specific speed and RPM. I would crawl under and give all of the steering and suspension linkages a good shake. Definitely check the stabilizer bar links for wear on the rubber bushings and that the nuts are tight. Mine was rattling recently because the nut on the passenger side has backed off (It only did it while moving and hat about 45 mph.

Rattles, squeaks and other miscellaneous noises can be one of the most frustrating things to track down.

Sat
Fluid level and color appear to be good
Satito beat me to the next step i was going to suggest exactly what he did since your fluid seems fine. the heat shields are known to rattle on 1st gens but you said you checked them, many people just remove them so might keep that in mind, the swaybar end links as satito mentioned are known to rattle on the 1st gens especially the rears the swybar in the rear tends to rattle as well as the bushing age and wear out, i would inspect them closely. make sure whne you check swaybar end link tightness you dont over tighten as that can be as bad as them being loose and cause noises and premature failure, they arent very high pressure i would check a hayanes/chilton ,manual or the fsm if you have access for the specifications and tighten them to these. might also check the skid plates and engine under covers if yours has anya s these being loose can rattle and amke weird noise too. do you know the alst time the tranny was serviced and if it has ever had the filter replaced?

I'm having this same issue....did anyone find the problem
Even with having the same problem, a little more info would be profoundly helpful.
  1. Year
  2. Engine
  3. Trans
  4. 2 or 4 WD
  5. Miles on the odometer
  6. Miles since last trans fluid service
  7. Miles since last oil change
  8. Any work that has been done to help fix the issue (even if it didn't)
