I bought my 2002 brand new, and within the first year I was experiencing electrical issues with the radio/cd player. Every now and then, I would get popping and crackling in the speakers...speakers dropping in and out. I noticed that if I banged on the driver side of the center console below the radio, it would eleviate the problem (most times).
I took it to the dealer, and since they couldn't get it to make the same symptoms, they wouldn't look into it any further (stupid Dealers!!!!).
So now 8 years later, I think this problem has finally escalated....
My wife had the car and all of a sudden it wouldn't start...dash had power and CD player was acting like it was trying to change cd's. Then all power was lost.
I met her at the truck and found the 100 amp Battery fuse had blown...I highly recommend you find a thread on how to replace that fuse, because it is attached with two bolts underneath the fuse box and DOSE NOT just pull out like other fuses.
Anyway, I replaced the fuse and we got power back and the truck started up....however, the radio/CD player is now completely dead.
So I'm pretty sure the radio shorted out and blew my fuse, but now I have to figure out how to find the short....
Anyone have a link to threads, or any info on how to access the radio and all pertinent wiring so I can fix this short?
Thanks.

The radio wouldn't have blown the 100 amp.. there's a 10 or 15 amp inline with the constant and accessory radio feeds that would have blown **way** sooner. It sounds like you have a huge short or loose wire going from the 100 amp feed to a fuse box or something, or a bad ground that cause a lower voltage/higher amperage feed to a lot of devices within the car... enough that it didn't blow the fuses covering each item but that the combined amps between all the branched circuits were enough to blow the 100 amp.

I looked for loose wires and grounds from the fuse box on out and didn't see anything. It's been 3 days of driving the truck just fine, with the radio still dead. I'm guessing I'll have to take the side panels off at the radio and check out the wiring there.
