I just bought a 14" electric fan to replace the stock mechanical fan and free up some engine load to help improve the terrible gas mileage along with a k&n intake. Any ideas on where or how to fabricate a fan shroud for the 14" electric fan to get the most cfm's out of it as possible?

The stock fan on a gen 2 is ~18 inches in diameter and the opening in the plastic shroud is larger. I'm thinking to get a sheet of aluminum or galvanized metal from home depot and make a cone that will go from around the 14 incher out to the factory plastic shroud and leave tabs on the engine side of the cone so you can bolt it to the plastic shroud.

Best to make a mockup out of bendable cardboard then use it as a template to cut the real one out of metal.

Grab the fan out of an 2000-2003~04 grand cherokee 4.0L with the connector at a junkyard and the 185* fan controller from Oreilly's.
Trim the lower mounting tab at the bolt hole.
Line up the new fan inside your stock fan shroud and drill holes for the other two mounts. You'll be amazed how well it fits! maybe a 1/8-1/4" gap. A couple of nuts and bolts will hold it in place.
I went ahead and trimmed channels in the shroud for the bracing on the fan as well so it sat flush.
Drill a couple more holes in the cut lower tab of the fan and 2 corresponding holes in the shroud for a couple of zip ties to help keep everything sturdy at the bottom.
Install the temp sensor from the fan control kit about 2" directly below the inlet on the radiator. You'll have to drill a ~1/2" hole on the battery side of the shroud for the wiring to pass through.
Follow the wiring instructions for the rest.
I was able to get the fan and wiring pigtail for $20 at a jy and the controller was $25. So for less than a new fan clutch I was able to get a very clean and stock appearing setup that keeps it cool even here in Texas!
