Alright guys, somewhat new to the forum and very excited. Had my X for 5 years and just started moding, just got a rack for my 2003 Xterra 2wd and would like to "Level Her Out", not too much confidence in myself to do this awesome mod correctly and I'm desperately lacking tools, I'm in the Army so I didn't bring too much with me when I came out here. ANY HELP WOULD be greatly appreciated! If your in the Colorado Springs area and willing to help me PLEASE hit me up. Im also going to look into some 1.5 rear shackels, I think I can tackle those bad boys myself. Thanks ALL!

Hi!

A couple of points in case its not obvious, etc....

"Level" is not good, you want a truck to be a little nose-down in rake, on the X, that's ~ 1.0 - 1.5" lower in front, if measured at the front and rear of the steps to the ground.

If you raise the front ~ 1.5", raising the rear a matching ~ 1.5" with 3" longer than OEM shackles keeps your current rake...and lifts your suspension height by 1.5".

Ahhhhh I see........ I knew you were a pro at these mods lol so I appreciate you commenting on mine. Yeah, so 1.5 in the front and to achieve the best rake I need to look into 3 inch shackles for the rear. Right? Boy I hope so, not trying to look like an ignoramus here haha

First posts are almost ALWAYS to answer questions that simply require some context.

There is a LOT of information and concepts here, and, there's definitely too much to absorb in one weeks worth of browsing, etc....so, don't feel bad.

Haha just a tad bit of clarification goes a loooong way, now I need to invest something like $70.00 for those rear shackles and find someone to help me with the front torsion bars. Looking forward to maybe a snorkel and ladder. Not sure yet, snorkels and gobi ladders look phenomenal on 1st gens! :fantastic:

There's a few great write ups on the t-bar adjustments and PML routine....just read through them and you'll see its not really a two man job....but of course its always more fun to mod with buddies.

Try to get a mod day going, you supply beer/pizza and so forth, and its like a party with wrenches.

Check my signature links for the How To: PML post I made

It is not difficult at all...unless you don't have tools :)

Haha yeah, well, if that is what mod parties are all about then I have been missing out for yeaaaars....... ill have to find some buddies around here and go to town. Ive never done a torsion bar adjustment, but, I do have all of the write-ups on here saved so if I work up the courage and the wifey agrees to spend $70.00ish then I just might jump right in. Thanks. I'll look for some area buddies. Any Springs guys here? Hm..ill also look on various forums :3d_004:

I'm down in Pueblo and could find some time to give you a hand if you can't get someone closer. I have plans over Thanksgiving and need to get the new steering on my Bronco but could find a day some weekend. PM me if you're up for a short road trip.

Make sure you budget for an alignment after the PML too.
