I have a yellow 2006 Xterra. I have noticed that the paint seems to chip easily - way more than other cars I've had. I mentioned this to the dealership more than once but they blame the roads here. I have driven different cars on these same roads and never had chipping like this. I saw another Xterra in a parking lot, so I looked at their paint and it was chipped quite a bit, as well. Is anyone else having this problem?

I wouldn't know, as soon as I bought my 06, I stripped it all down and did a complete body color change, lol. The OEM paint seemed really good to me though. I think like every company, it all depends on what plant it was painted in, and other such factors. Plus paint materials aren't what they used to be, they look real pretty now a days, but they don't last like they used to. EPA, lol.

BTW, welcome to the club!

I love my X and waited for years to get one. It sounds like the first generations have better paint or a better application. I have two teenagers I am putting through high school so I can't really afford to repaint my X. I know what a good paint job costs and most of it is in the prep work. I'm wondering if Nissan would do something if enough people actually had this problem. I was not sure if I had a dud paint job or if others were experiencing this. I love Nissan but not paying attention to these sorts of details will keep them behind Toyota, Honda and the like. I think Nissan makes a better product and I would like to see them shine. If you know of others with this problem, if they could reply here, that would be great.

From my understanding....these days paint is so bad because of all the "environmental" regulations. So basically they paint till you cant see the metal underneath anymore and thats about it....

Yep, pretty much, and some manufacturers cut corners anywhere they can now too. (not so bad with Nissan luckily), When my wife got her car new in '01 (ford escape), I was installing the remote start and noticed that they don't even paint the bottom of the doors anymore, lol. (just E-coat). So I went to the dealer and looked around on the lot and they were all like that. (crazy)
