I recently had gotten a knock sensor code and a catalytic converter code at the same time on my 2002 Nissan Xterra. My mechanic suggested we replaced the knock sensor because it was possible that the bad catalyic converter efficiency was caused by the engine not operating properly. the knock sensor was fixed and I didn't have any problems for about a month and a half and now I'm getting codes P1444 for my evap control system and the catalytic converter code again.

Anyone have any ideas on what is causing these? Should I shell out the cash for the cat converter fix?

I would track down the evap code, get that fixed, reset the lights and see where that took me... It could mess with the air/fuel ratio causing the oxygen sensor to trip the cat code.
