I bought my first Xterra a day ago! XE with 127k, towing, no mods as far as I can tell. I've only owned one car before (2003 Pontiac Grand Am GT) and changed the oil myself the eleven years I had it. How hard or easy is it to change the oil/filter on these? Do they sit up high enough I can just slide under or do they need jacked up? I'd like to switch to synthetic. I'm working on getting a Hayne's repair manual for it, but in the mean time, any info/advice on a simple oil change and maintenance?

Remember dont put more than 3 1/2 quarts with filter !!!!

It's easy, just slide under and remove the skid plate. Filter and drain are right there.

As Deja said, capacity is 3.5 quarts with a new filter. Assuming you have the v6.
