Hey guys, I've been lurking around for a few months and figured it was time to post and ask you guys a question.

I have a 2002 xterra, the super charged model. Anyways I am burning what seems like a lot of oil. I just had my oil changed about a month ago and the oil light is coming on now when the vehicle is turning sharply or braking while going down a hill (so I put some more oil in it last night).

I searched for some threads on the issue but I'm not 100% sure what I'm searching for. So far I've heard head gaskets or pvc valve, is that accurate?

I also seem to producing some white smoke at all times, when no other cars on the road are (I'm in Canada so it's not uncommon this time of year for the cold weather to cause smoke coming from every vehicle). But that would normally mean I'm burning coolant wouldn't it?

Is there a guide for replacing the PVC valve? I imagine it's a pretty simple procedure but I don't even know where it is.

sorry if i'm not of any help, but I was curious about that too. Not as extreme in your case, but I did burn a bit .. found the dipstick really low. I think it's just because of the mileage (i have about 99k) although I did find it near the end of the 3k interval and i'm more curious as it's happened now while in city conditions.

Anyway, I just replaced my PCV valve just yesterday and changed the oil. i'll keep an eye out on it.
