What about a 12-ga. shotgun? I believe the bore is .78".
Here is the definition of a large-bore destructive device according to Wikipedia:

Wikipedia said:
Any non-sporting firearm with a bore over 0.50", such as a 40mm grenade launcher often used in conjunction with military rifles. (Many firearms with bores over 0.50", such as 12-gauge shotguns, are exempted from the law because they have been determined to have a legitimate sporting use.)

and, because this is a pic thread: :nick-big:

Sexy. :3d_004: Who's barrel on the Rem 700? Love your reloading setup mine needs more cabinets/shelves so everything is at arms length.

Seeing the thread reminds me I haven't posted a pic since I painted the skins on my Rem 700

Nice, I had a 2.0 years ago myself. The .308 in the photo was built by Randy at R+D to my specs, Rockcreek 5R barrel, USMC issue M40A1 stock. Bottom metal is correct.

The reloading photo was taken soon after I built the benches, I need to take an update pic.

Here's another photo of that rifle:

I have had my CCW for about 8 years now. The gun I carry everyday is a Ruger LCP with a fixed Crimson Trace.

Recently picked up my first pistol - a Ruger LC9. Beautiful little thing.

Need some suggestions. I'm looking to grab a shotgun, and I really had my heart set on a Mossberg 500 JIC (the little pistol-grip in a tube) because I loved the idea of having a grab-n-go. Mostly for zombies. But realistically, this is not a movie. Those things are not easy to shoot by any means. Instead, I found this little number:

http://www.mossberg.com/product/shotguns-pump-action-500-special-purpose-thunder-ranch/52133

Basically the same setup, but it has a shoulder stock and no pistol grip. I'd rather have control of my gun than not, ya know? I'd really like a lighted forend, too.

Anyway, suggestions needed: I want something bolt-action with a scope. Or maybe scoped & clipped? I'm not sure which direction I want to take that in, but I'd like to keep it simple & cheap. Looked at a few Ruger scoped .22 rifles. Any recommendations?

My latest acquisitions over the last two years:

C15A1. Did some more parts swapping to put it into a "M16A1" setup for about the late 60's. Only thing I need to change is the upper if I feel froggy enough to to it.

The P226 is a great weapon. I had the P229 and I loved everything about it. Unfortunately I no longer have it but as soon as I get the chance I will be grabbing another. Girene, How do you like the P250? I'm thinking about purchasing one and am just curious how you like the modular design.

Don't really have anything to swap it out with but its nice to have an option (not that it matters, I have have firearms in 9mm and .45 so with the .40 that has my bases covered).

I wanted something compact but with a bit more punch than a Makarov. Another SHTF weapon.

Its okay. The Double Action Only is interesting to get used to and sadly I can still shoot straighter with my 1911A1. I need more time to break it in at the range and get a feel for it before I can make a call.

Critical opinion from others seems to be you either like it or you don't. A 226 is on my wishlist for down the road though.
