I assume the 2010 off road can have the nuvi gps mount added? I was thinking about purchasing the ~100 mount online and having my dealer install it. I talked with two of my local dealers asking for how much they would charge for labor, and neither called me back...

I have read it is only like a 20 minute mod to DIY, however, I am definitely not experienced with electrical mods...

just a heads up, i purchased part #999Q5-KU001 and changed parts out to accept a garmin 755T (traffic receiver capable), and then wired the car for it. After ridiculous frustration i discovered this dock DOES NOT fit an OR. you need 999Q5-KV001. this part is different than anything i have seen on this site. There is a small computer board and two external speakers built into the docking station, as well as a USB connector for doing Lord knows what... and the updated texture of the dock itself matches the radio control trim.

I ended up gutting out the little computer board and external speakers, and the traffic receiver tucked nicely into the dock where the chip used to be. the sound on the garmin unit is more than adequate. if i was electronically capable i might have tried to get it all to work, but i was already frustrated after mangling the old docking station which i can no longer return (which is now sitting on my desk).

But - if you are getting the Nissan garmin, or do not intend to use a traffic receiver then the new dock is pretty awesome since it has the new features. moreover this would indeed be a ~30 minute self-install if this was all you wanted. there are instructions in the box itself. guessing the dealer would charge you $75-100 if you wanted them to do it.

I already have the KV001 and am going to get it installed by the dealer. I was looking to get the 755T but you said you had to make some changes.

Are you saying the 755T does not fit with the current housing stations?

The 755t fits but you need to swap out the cord if you want the traffic updates. I have the console and 755 sitting at my house waiting to be installed. I test fit the 755 and it fits in the housing just fine. I'm not going to worry about the traffic. I'm not sure if I'm going to put it in myself or not...the dealer wants $100.

Im sorry, maybe i am not understanding what the traffic update is all about, but i dont see why a plastic holder would affect how the garmin operates?

can you explain a little more on why the traffic wouldnt work?

The 750 is not wired for traffic updates. The housing/cradle is prewired for the 750 so if you want the fm receiver that feeds the signal to the 755t you have to swap out the power cord from the O.E. to the one included in the box with the 755.

oh so just to be clear (as you can see i have no knowledge of how wiring works), but when i buy the 755T, and I buy the cradle, the cradle actually has a 750 wire already attached?

Therefore the dealership will have to remove the 750 wire and re-wire the 755 to the cradle? The reason i need to know this is becuase the dealership is installing it for free for me and I dont want them screwing anything up...

Also, will the wire i need to swap out come in the 755 box?

Talk to the dealer; I bet they won't swap out the wires. You only need to mod the houing if you want the traffic.

I agree to do it yourself, but the dealership offered free install on it (they owe me). So i was just going to buy the 755T cuz it was nicer and have them put it in. But I wanted to explain to them what the difference would be between the 750 and 755 so maybe they can fix it.

the mount for the 750 will fit the 755, but the cable for the 755 will not fit in the mount. If you want traffic, you'll need to swap out the mount in the docking station and wire in the traffic receiver somehow. It takes longer than the typical 20 minutes if you want to do this, and I ended up sacrificing the external speakers and little computer board because it got too confusing. I highly doubt the dealer would do this without paying them to figure it out.
