Hi guys. Bought '00 4 months ago. Replaced knock sensor some other stuff. Was right at 150k. We really love this xterra (our first).

Anyway last monday she was sorta puttering as i reached speeds above 60 mph. It was suprising but i gave it no other thought. On saturday it was sorta scary on the istate. Then it kept pooping out at every light. We almost got hit! That was with the kids so...

Had it towed to a mechanic. Tow guy henry said "dont hear the fuel pump workin". My dad's mechanic thought it probably worked just fine... Except there 'aint no spark'.

Does it sound like a fuel system recall? I will call the vin in the morning... But what do you guys think?

More technical terms would be very helpful for online troubleshooting. For example, what the hell does "kept popping out at every light" mean... Popping out of gear? Your boner popped out of your pants? Are you trying to say the truck died at the stoplight?

The fuel sending units are known to go bad on 2000s. So are the ignition systems, mainly the distributors. You are probably due for a tune-up regardless of other issues so I would start there. You should hear the fuel pump whining for 5 seconds or so when you turn the ignition on.
