The Reading Anthracite Company (RAC) is now allowing people to off road on their land for a flat rate of $125 per YEAR

This is not far from the Rausch Creek Off Road Park, and that ALSO used to be a coal mining area, etc, so the terrain might be similar. ( I have not been to RAC yet).

Its not a "Park" per se, its just open land they used to mine on...IE: No "Rated Trails", no facilities, just open land...but its supposed to be BIG.

You pay $125 per PERSON (NOT per rig...) per YEAR (Calendar Year- like "2012", expiring at the end of Dec of 2012, even if you BOUGHT it in Dec 2012, etc...)

You give them your info, the rig info (Reg, insurance proof, etc...), and you can be there anytime you want, 7 days/week, between dawn/dusk (NO nights, no camping, no fires, etc.)

I emailed them for more info...I'll post any replies I get.

I may also do a scouting run. If any one wants to also do a scouting run, its easier to map things out with more people.

From what I've unofficially gleaned from the offroad community....its about FIVE tracts of land, not all connected to each other.

The yellow hatched area above is ONE of the tracts. (Note the size of nearby TOWNS for scale)

I believe the total is covering roughly 22,000 acres.

Some areas are large bowls, and yup, coal dirt like at Centralia or the pits at RC, Paragon, etc.

Some areas are shale ledges, dirt, etc.

MOST of the videos I can find, etc...are dirt bikers and quads playing in the bowls/doing hill climbs.

I'm having trouble finding more than a sprinkling of trucks out there.

On the plus side, it looks like that access pass even allows you to do target practice, or hunting there too.

If they allow hunting and target practice I hope there are designated areas for each. No need for safety issues or to have a pesky off-roader spook your deer when you're in a tree stand.

You can combine your interests of course.

This is how I like to combine off roading and hunting for example.
