I have a 2000 xterra SE 2wd. Just replaced the timing belt and everything was running smooth for about 10 minutes but whenever I let off the gas on a low rpm (almost only happened up a hill) the rpms drop really low really fast and then my X dies, then on start it does it really slow and almost misses the first few seconds

Check for vacuum leaks.
