my 2000 Xterra is SE or XE?

i just got yr 2000 Xterra last week. V6 3.3L engine with 4WD. The tire is P265/70/15R, power window and cruise control.

The previous owner told me the model is SE. However from what i've learned:
SE has a logo at the backdoor says "SE" which i can't find it there. And moon roof is the standard feature for SE and i don't have it either.

if you say this is a XE, how do you explain the tires size and the cruise control which is not the features for XE?

i am confused! please help.

you could option out the xe to the point it was pretty much an se minus the sunroof. When I had carfaxed our xe it would come up as an Xterra XE/SE
You are right, the sunroof was a standard feature on the SE, and they did have the badges on the back. What it sounds like you have is a tri-pack XE which is what I had. Like rjr stated, that options up the XE to near SE trim with all the power features and such. Officially though, you have an XE.

My Xe has a cruise, the Se has the side moldings, mud flaps, sunroof.
Does your mirror have the compass and temperature?

It was std on the SE.

:D
Our XE also has the side moldings and has mud flaps.. well minus the fronts so the winter tires could clear.

mine is an XE/SE and it has all the options everyone listed above except the sunroof (mine does have: compass/temp on mirror, cruise, power windows and mirrors, side molding, mudflaps, etc..) So ya even my insurance company lists mine as an SE/XE.

There was a discussion on here about this a few months back and the consensus then was that like 90% of the 1st gen Xterra's are a blend of SE/XE options, most having too many options to be an actual XE but not enough to be classified as an SE.

The previous owner just wasn't sure entirely because some of the options standard on the SE that were not on the XE are on most of the X's out there but they are not actual SE's.

Do a search and you will find another in depth discussion on this topic.

Its really not that important.

Its just a label.

:D
thanks for all your replies.

yeah, it's just a label doesn't mean anything.

BTW, my Xterra doesn't have compass on mirror and no side moldings
Its YOURS.

:D

So, how many miles do you have?
i have 104,390 miles. Timing belt hasn't been changed. Have to throw some money on that soon.
It's been said, but it sounds like you have the same as me. An optioned out XE. I prefer it since I get the goodies and still have the clean no molding look :)
the se has 16 " rims not 15's, it has a 6cd changer, and a sunroof
Lol again our xe had a 6-disc.. But only 15" rims and no sunroof. So I'm thinking sunroof was the only not avail for xe option? Pretty sure you could get the 16" on the xe as an option though I may be wrong
Yep, my x-wife's Xterra had a 6-disk changer and it was an '01XE. Moldings are a good indicator, although they were an option. Sunroof is the key on the early ones until they did away with that feature in the 1.5gen.

Yup, mine too. XE with everything but the sunroof.
I have a 2000 XE it has power windows & mirrors, CD radio, door locks, cruise, sunroof, keyless entry, side moldings, 265/70 tires on the 15 inch alloy wheels of the year. It is 4x4 but has 5 speed, It has fogs, limited slip rear diff., step rail, rear wiper/washer.
Agin, the only differnce I can see is mine has the optional 5 speed stick shift.
There just seems like no real differnce on the optioned XE versus the standard SE.

I just got the first rear end picture of my truck, which is sill out for some small body work. I was told it was an XE from my sister, but you can clearly see it is an SE! Duh
