Hi, as the name says, Ray in Costa Rica, lived in USA and Canada most of my life, lots of 4 wheeling, mostly rocky stuff up north, here in CR 99% if mountains and mud , not heavy off camber rock crawling. I have an ocean view 750 acre project here and bought a 2001 Xterra yesterday as a work truck, so thought I would join to learn about the Xterra:D;)

Initially interested in details about the least expensive way to increase ground clearance for bigger tires.

1. crank torsion bars, is that front and rear? what is the pro and con
2. 1.5 to 2 inch body lift.

then with that, biggest tires I can fit> have some 285/75/16's on my 2002 Isuzu Trooper, would be ideal if both vehicles had same size? would those fit my Xterra with 1 and 2 above , basic lifts?

body lift is the only way to clear bigger tires. You can crank the torsion bars in the front and get longer shackles for the rear but that wont help with larger tires as the suspension will still compress and you will rub.
