Jack5885's Expedition Build/Ideas Thread

NOTICE: This is a long term build since I have very little free time at the moment.

Bio:
When I first got it I called it Panda because a friend of mine thought it looked like a panda. Since then, I've officially named it: Alpha.

Saved up money to buy one of my few reasonably priced dream cars...
2002 Nissan Xterra, 4x4 and manual transmission.
Anyways...
I bought it with 93k and I am currently the third owner.
There is a small rust spot and medium dent from when the second owner was parked in a parking lot, and some jerk knocked into her (the car) and drove off.

Installed:
-Cooper Discoverer A/T3 265/75R16
-2 4" HIDs on the roof (6/6/12)
-PML (4/22/12)
-Shrockworks Tire Carrier
-Clarion CX501
-LED Interior lights (one red map light, the rest white)
-Midland 75-822
-Headliner Fix (front was peeling back so I fixed it, but now its starting to sag badly over the driver's seat)
-Matching spare wheel
-New Cabin Air Filter (1/17/12)
-Sylvania SilverStar Ultra (1/17/12)
-Bilstein HDs

Removed:
-Brush guard (For sale)
-Mud flaps (For Sale)
-Last remaining hub cap (For sale)
-Running boards (For sale)
-Rear sway bar

In Progress:
-Sliders (Being welded together in my spare time)
-Intake Mod (66% done, still need to remove the big baffle)

Coming Soon:
-Fix rust spots (before they get worse) or get used front left fender
-Paint Plastics

Very nice.
Mud flaps are now gone.

The last remaining hub cap is next. It's the only one that hasn't fallen off on its own.

EDIT: that last hub cap is off...ill sell it if anybody wants it, however its just one.

Steps are now off. Took less than 30 minutes and looks much better...

I also took off the Xterra sticker on the roof rack fairing because it was coming off.

Looks good man. :)
Sliders, Tube bumper, and roof rack are all in the planning stages.

I'll be using my friend's welder.

Just bought a new spare wheel to replace my old crappy one. I'll start a five tire rotation once I get new tires in a few months.

Old Crappy wheel...

New wheel...

I think 30 bucks was a pretty good deal for it. The tire has two giant holes in it so it's useless at the moment.

I also removed the rear sway bar.

Testing 4x4 for the first time... I found some dirt/mud/snow/ice/slush just outside Phoenix...

Works great.

Just did the Headliner fix. Took me awhile but it looks like it will work great.

Can't remember where I saw you were contemplating a trip to Alaska, but this site might be able to help your planning a little bit:

Thanks man! I'll keep that in mind.

Just an update...

-I painted my tow hook red.
-I cleaned my headlights with THIS. Worked out amazingly.
-Installed a Cobra 75 WX ST. (I still need to tune it)

And went on a little drive:

PML done. I'll post pics eventually.
Also got a screw in my tire removed and plugged for free. (Discount Tire rocks)

New tires are needed but I'll wait until the fall since I wont be driving her this summer.

Sweet on the PML....question? Do you carry a tire repair kit? Screw in the tire takes maybe 5 minutes to fix and would be right handy to have in the middle of nowhere.

I do but since I needed a tire taken off a spare rim too, I had Discount Tire fix the tire... All for free, so I can't complain.

Picked up some frame stiffeners for 10 bucks at a junkyard. They had no idea what they were. Installing them:

Haven't updated this in awhile...So lets get some pictures!

Since my last update I've:
-Installed 265/75R16 Cooper Discoverer AT3. Amazing tires and I love them. They are quite cheap and perform on par with the best tires on the market.
-Timing Belt change at 103k miles.

I'm also looking into buying a Shrock rear bumper to free up space in the trunk because my tire is in there right now. If anybody is selling one or know someone selling one, PM me. With a month+ long trip planned for my gap year that is about to start before college, I need to start getting my truck ready.
