IrishProdigy's Build Thread!!1!!11!

Okay, so I'm finally starting the build thread...Me and my X started like this:

I got it back in 2005 as a partial graduation gift, it had 14k miles on it, great service record (all dealership done), and paid $17k for it. We got a really good deal on it, the dealership had $16k in it when they bought it back from the woman as a trade.

I have pics of it going way back, and I'll work on digging them up. But as 2005 went on it lost the mud flaps and step rails, got a brush guard, tail light guards, snowboard racks and some lights :D. Then in 2007 it got a Volant CAI. And that's been most of the performance mods, just regular maintenance.

Anyways, here it was yesterday morning:

And I had a 2" Body Lift to install!

Installation:

*Got to love some free Lowe's twine...

Brush Guard and bumper off:

Rear bumper off:

I couldn't drop the drive shaft safety loop, so that was odd a little strange to me...

And done!!

Well almost done, I haven't put the front bumper on yet as I'm debating a few different ways of doing it. And as for in between pics, I had one nut that just rounded off from all the years of dirt and mud and sand and shit and that took over an hour to drill and chisel out so by then I was done taking pics haha.

And I still have the rear shackles to install too.

And have some Christmas Lights!!

Looks good man. But you still have your driveshaft safety loop on with no extension?

Thanks guys!! I'm pretty happy with it so far :)

Yes, the way mine was inside of a loop in the front of a cross bar extending it would of been a real pain. It'll only drop down about an inch without having to bend it, and since it doesn't hit I left it as it was.

Indeed!! :nick-big:

I am going to have to put the front bumper back on in the morning though, or I'm going to get a $150 ticket. I got a warning today :boese-big:

I'll get some more pics in the daylight too.
Oh, and here's the Chirstmas lights link I forgot to put in!

Everyone's is inside a loop like that- you just have to wiggle it around a little. Just takes a minute. But now that you're lifted, it's under a huge amount of strain. You may get a popping sound when you drive and it'll be a pain to remove and it may snap around or strip threads if you try. Not nagging you man, that just worries me a bit.
Duh. I just had a dumbass moment there. I was thinking backwards on that, so thanks. I'll take care of that in the morning then too.
Looks good! I was expecting to see Christmas lights on the x though.

Be careful!!

I was! And freaked out in the back of my mind all the way home, too. But i got the front bumper installed and the bolt out. I have a "breaker bar" my dad gave me a few years ago and it has never let me down. I figured the neighbors wouldn't appreciate me using the Sawzall to cut my sleeve at 1am so I'll finish up then. Now just to track down the few codes I'm throwing about an evap leak, my guess after some research is a house busted somewhere. No issues anywhere else though after about 100 miles!

These happened after the body lift? If so pull the passenger front tire and you will see a plate covering some lines that are attached to the frame. These should have been cut loose from there mount during the BL and a new mount hole drilled to accommodate the BL. You will find a few of the lines have fractured.

Yeah. I've only had the knock sensor for the post little bit. Psh, wonderful. If I would of seen that in the guise I followed I would have...hopefully its a fairly easy and inexpensive fix?
Alright, got the evap issue after the bl fixed. Just broke a fuel line behind that bracket Racer mentioned. Here it is:

Still haven't gotten any daytime pics (my Droid4 took a crap on me :'(, don't buy one), installed the rear shackles, or relocated the bumpers.

Man you should just relocate the whole bracket- all those lines are under the same stress. It just takes a few minutes to drill and tap a new hole where it wants to rest. There are also brackets along the top of the frame rail running back that you might want to free up. My bundle sits over an inch above the frame, that's where it's happy!

Yep - in the works for the next day off sir! I haven't caught much time off, so I just had to worry about the one. Plus I haven't done Christmas with the parents yet, and I either have some new tools coming or funds for new tools!!
So, in update,

I deep cycled the battery in my Droid4 so I haven't been able to get any pics. Until I get another that phone's battery and can replace the "unreplacable" batt it has, I'm stuck using a temp Droidx2 over wifi... :-(

I haven't gotten much else done yet, but did get a few more pics. We took a ride through a couple of park trails, Jane's Scenic (through Fakahatchee) and then through this cool park called Picayune (where the "Great Florida Land Scam happened).

Anyways, for the truck pics! I'll put the others in a trip thread :-D
