What do you mean? IF you just bought a CAI, then you basically just did the opposite of modifying your stock exhaust. Explain better and throw some pictures in there.
Are there any resonators on that hose? If not then your mod is already done. I personally would have left the stock box and threw a K & N on there. As of now, sorry to be the bearer of bad news but now you have a HAI, hot air intake.
In that picture that you posted the link to, you can see the resonator in the tube. It's where the Nissan emblem is. There isn't any way of modifying that without it looking like arse.
I might try something with it, if I get a CAI. But I'm waiting for a true CAI, which I may also have to make myself. :clever:
no it is not a hot air intake it has a heat sheild. and i had a k&n air filter. and now i got this. i love it i average about 18.9 mpg. and the sound is really deep. sounds like a v8. im thinking about making an intake tube. and taking the oem one out.
Can't run it out the passenger's side, the battery and IPDM is all in the way over there.
I say that you can't cut the tube out, but after looking at it a bit closer, the use of a band saw and perhaps a way to sleeve the interior of the pipe would actually work. Then you could reuse the resonator as a decoration to cover up the front of the engine only. I'll have to look closer at that.
