So I took out my factory horn yesterday and put in a Wolo Bad Boy horn. I unplugged my horn plugged in the Wolo and grounded it. Everything was working fine and the horn sounded great. Today I go to use my horn and it doesnt work. The odd thing is that when I use my key fob to lock the X the horn beeps, its just when I want to honk the horn that it doesnt work. What happened to my horn?
are you running the new horn off of a relay, and only using the original power scource to trip the relay? Or did you try to run the new horn off of the original power supply.
i had this same problem about a month ago. my 2000 and im assuming other 2000s have two horns, one for the locking/panic horn and one thats wired to the steering column for driving use. the "main" horn is located in the front of the engine bay and the "panic" horn is on the left hand side of the bay next to the fuse box. make sure you wired the aftermarket horn to the right horn, not your panic and then try it. if its till not working, i believe granitex to be on the right track, may have overloaded or burnt out the relay or the fuse.
yeah I replaced the horn under the grill, the main horn. I was thinking it was a fuse. I ran the new horn off the original power source. A little black box eith 4 prongs came with the horn however the instructions didnt say anything about using it.
The black box with the four prongs is a relay. The power for the horn should go through the relay, with the original wire from the original horn just used to trip the relay. All that relay is, is a switch that is controled electronically.

Right thats what Ive been reading. The directions however say its only needed if im using a new switch. I have a friend who knows about wiring who is going to help me. I can swap out head units and put in subs but other than that Im useless when it comes to wiring.
The original factory horn wiring should already be run through a relay. I replaced my factory horn with a Wolo Bad Boy in my last car and it was just fine. And since yours is working when you bump the locks with the key fob (I assume the panic button also makes the horn work fine?) then it sounds like your horn switch in the steering wheel is faulty, or the factory relay needs to be replaced (this is the most likely scenario). The relay can be found in the fuse and relay box under the hood.
I just replaced my horn with just the blazer 125db low tone horn, it had just one wire that went from the post to a prong on itself and then the stock wire from the stock horn just went right on the 12v tab of the blazer. Is that how the bad boy wires?
J Everett: There are two separate horns one to the steering column and one for the alarm.
Trexterra: The bad boy horn has a negative and positive terminal. The positive was hooked up to the one wire that went to the old horn and than I grounded the negative to a bolt on the frame. The only wire I had laying around was left over ground wire from my Amp, its a lot larger than the positive wire. The directions called for 10 gage wire and the ground I used is 12.
i'm assuming you already checked to make sure there isn't a layer of paint or anything between the frame and the wire? That's the only thing I could think of because i'm not very up on my electrical

Well there's no paint. The ground is actually attached to the bracket holding the horn and that bracket is attached to the frame. I wasnt to sure about doing this in the first place but I know very little about wiring things. My girlfriends installs solar panels and does lots of wiring and she said it should be fine however she doesn't know much about cars.
be careful with putting a bigger fuse. even tho its only 5 amps the wires might overheat. its best to use the relay. you can still use the original wires while drawing more power with the relay directly from the battery
Yeah after learning that there was a separate panic horn i figured it was jsut a fuse. I had the hardest time pulling it out though. It wasn't until today that I got it out.
