Saw these on an Xterra for sale on craigslist, they have a really striking look.

I am pretty much an offroad/SUV newb: can someone tell me about what a tread pattern like this is used/designed/best for? can anyone ID the tires and size?

This xterra looks super great to me on the outside (inside has clearly been beat) but I just love the look and stance.

Thanks!

I will take an educated guess here. My observations:

1) The tire tread is pretty smooth so I am guessing it is a standard highway/street tire. not good if you ever want to go off road. If you want good driving characteristics, you can get a moderate all terrain tire that handles highways just as good.

2) The rims are aftermarket. They look like 15" steel rims. These are typically 15" diameter and 8" wide. That means the tires on them are probably sized in standard sizing. They look bigger than a stock size 31"...but smaller diameter than a 33. I am guessing it is a 32 in diameter x 11.50 inch wide tire on a 15 inch rim.

3) Judging by the fender gaps, The truck probably has a 2" body lift + PML (or 3" suspension lift).

4) The tires do look to stick out a bit wider, so I would bet the rims have a slightly wider offset.

5) There is an XN sticker on the roof rack, so they are likely over at XterraNation.org. I will look around over there and see if I can find some info on it.

Note that it is difficult to tell based on fender gaps...small tires with a small lift can make the lift look larger than it is...because the ratio may be similar to large tires with a larger lift.
