Hi guys, i recently took my 2001 Xterra to AAP, and they told me that i had a problem with my knock sensor, and that i had to replace it. If ANYONE HAS any photos of the process to change the knock sensor. I understand its under the intake mani but I need to make sure where, how, it looks and is. Please someone help me out! thanks!

Is your Xterra supercharged?

Ignore it. Probably more then half of the non S/C Xterra's on the board, including mine, have been throwing the KS code for years without any problems.

On the S/C models it puts the engine into a limp mode and will cause issues but on the Xterra's without the S/C it causes no issues.

^ AAAAND BOOM goes the dynamite.

x2, on the N/A engines the knock sensor doesn't do a damn thing. Mine's been bad since I got my truck (and probably before then too) with no problems.

yes its on. the highest i can rev on park is 2000rpms, something is wrong

Yeah something is wrong....but it's not the knock sensor causing the problem. The knock sensor will not trip the check engine light....so you have another problem and another code that is stored in the ECU. To help you figure this out we need the other codes.

the code said MAF. which is obviously the mass airflow sensor. i changed it and the check engine light is still on.

MAF may have not been bad...may have been the wiring or a bad ground. If you go pull the codes again I'd bet you are still getting the MAF code.

i dont remember the specific number but the guy told me it was only one code, and that it was MAF. There has to be something wrong, or trobleshooting things that can help.
