I recently acquired a 2001 Xterra SE 4WD Automatic with 120k miles.

Job one was replacing a passenger side valve cover gasket which was producing a steady flow of oil onto the manifold. After reading the threads here, I was able to do the job for $25 in about an hour.

Currently, the brake light is on all the time, and the ABS and CEL are on intermittently, so I'm working to figure those out now.

A PML, new Bilstein HD Shocks, and new 265/75R16's tires are next.

I'm looking forward to getting this thing "zombie apocalypse" ready :)

This is a picture of the split gasket.

So far I've installed new Bilstein shocks front and back, and put on 265/75/16 BFG AT KO2's yesterday. My plan was to complete a PML prior to installing the tires, but they beat the shackles here (ordered at same time, shackles don't even ship til next week.) I was worried they weren't going to fit without rubbing, so I removed the plastic trim from the front wheel wells before going to the installers just in case. Thankfully the tires fit with no interference.
