Recently I have been having trouble filling fueling my 2002 Xterra and the engine light is on. When filling, the pump will keep stopping every few seconds like it's full, but the tank is empty.

I read some posts that mentioned a bad EVAP canister or canister vent control valve, but when I crawled under to look, I saw that rubber hose that goes to the vent control valve is already disconnected, so I'm assuming the vapours are not being vented through the canister. If so, the canister and valve shouldn't be an issue?

Any suggestions?

There is a vapor return line going up the tank filler also to help relieve pressure while filling, I bet that is clogged

Thanks. I tried blowing air through the hose that was disconnected from the EVAP canister but haven't driven it yet.

Is the fuel neck located behind the plastic cover in the wheel well?
