OK guys I took my old distributor out and marked the relationship of the rotor but when u put my new one in my rotor is about 16th of an inch out of alignment I'm afraid to start it because I don't want to mess anything up
The one bolt that holds the Distributor in place allows you to set the timing when it is not tightened. Should you not be able to use that to exactly match it up again?
Correct me if I am wrong here (those with much higher mechanical knowledge than me) but if it is off by such a small amount would this just not mean that his timing will be off? From my understanding it will not break anything, just may run a little rough. I think were you off by a quarter turn or so then it would not fire in sequence and there would be a potential for hazard.
Please do not take what I said 100% and I would recommend for someone who has much more experience than me to chime in before you proceed.
