I recently purchased a 2002 Jazz Blue SE. The "Xterra" decals on the roof rack are practically gone so I bought some replacements online. One thing I noticed since purchasing mine, and noticing other Xterras on the road, is that almost all Xterras I have seen have silver racks with a darker gray decal. The rack on my Xterra is more of a charcoal gray and the decals were, from what I can tell, a dark gray.

Should my rack have been silver? Could a previous owner have painted mine or were some Xterras equipped with a charcoal rack depending upon exterior color?

I want to install the new decals but, don't want to put them on just yet if the rack needs to be repainted.

Im pretty sure the SE used a different color roof rack. I think it is listed if usearch for ?differences between XE and SE Xterra

Bingo! Found it using the search feature like you suggested;

XE roof rack is silver in color
SE roof rack is dark gray and the Xterra decal is more difficult to make out.
