For a few months now, my 2001 Xterra SE has been making a clunk/click sound, mainly when turning but sometimes happens when braking or going over even small bumps. Took it up to a corporate mechanic facility, which shall not be named but rhymes with Schmeineke... They had it on the lift for 10.7 seconds and told me it was absolutely positively the wheel bearings and gave me a $650 estimate. I told the gentleman that my husband had done my brakes a few months ago (thinking/hoping it was the fact that my brakes werre total crap) and the bearings were fine and he regreased them. I was told that you cannot regrease the bearing on a Nissan. I said "Thanks, can you get my car down now?" And they did show me the passenger tire which was wobbly for lack of a better term, but anywho....
So my father in law is an ex-mechanic and knows his sh*t, as does my husband. They laughed at what I said and replaced the bearings. Guess what? STILL CLUNKS!! I even tried to make a video but it was hard to appreciate the clunking over the sounds of the road that the camera was picking up. I'm just at a loss because there's nothing obvious when you look under it. Not at all. It's so hard to pinpoint and sometimes it doesn't do it at all HHHEEELPPPPP!!!
