Like the title says my brakes are pooched.

I was at a remote location with the '02 SC and my brakes died within a couple days.

It started with the park brake light staying on one morning. Didn't think too much of it since it was wet and froze hard within a few hours. It appears it was minor since operation was normal. later that day I could hear a squeak from my RL tire like the wear indicator had started. This progressively got worse over the next day and a half. Remember i am in a fairly remote place and had to finish a job before leaving. I had no choice but to drive it. I figured worse case I would have to have the drum replaced when I got home.

Day three as I leave camp the RL is grinding. stop repeatedly to apply and release the PB. Nothing. I come to a crossroad and as I stop the RL tire locks. I apply the PB and release again which releases the tire I proceed to hear a clunk in the rear end and discover I have no brakes at all. Nothing. Fortunately I am going 30 km/h on a back road and manage to stop against a snowbank.

X is now at home with no brakes. I have normal fluid levels. No signs of leaks, took the RL drum off and aside from worn pads there is no visible signs of failure. No harsh scratched on the drum either.

I am sure this is more than an issue with the RL assembly.

Anyone?

I went from grinding to no brakes in an instant. I think the fluid would cause a gradual loss. Fluid level is normal.

I am sure this thing needs to go to the shop but I am not taking it in blind since those crooks will sell me the most extreme package they have.

Could this be a MC or something? What would cause total loss?

What does the brake pedal feel like? is it completely soft and capable of going to the floor? I think it's some sort hydraulic failure since all four brakes failed on you. It could be a master cylinder. i'm sorry but i just never heard of something like this.

It has sat for a while now but today i was shoveling out and got under the hood. Fluid was about 1/4 from max so topped it up. Went back and forth in the driveway and the brakes and pedal felt normal. Went up the block and the back driver was grinding away. Spin a u'y and the tire clunked and locked and sounded horrible. As i rolled into the driveway pedal went to the floor with min brakes. Pumped it after i stopped an it felt normal. For the moment no asb or ebrake light.
