2005 Xterra: We installed an aftermarket radio yesterday and last night went to turn on the heat and it wont work. The lights work, the other functions presumably work, but not the blower motor switch. We took the panel off when we got home, made sure all the connections were tight, turned the car on before putting the panel back and it worked. So we put everything back together, turned the car on again to make sure it was still working, and it stopped working again. So we took it apart again only this time no matter what we did the switch wouldn't work again. Any ideas?:|

A ground strap for the dash might be loose, and/or the resister is blown...albeit if so, HIGH on the fan would work.

The cables etc, could also be binding when the dash is put back etc, too.

Do you happen to know the location of the ground strap? Looking online it only shows me the one under the hood. Also, could it be the blower motor relay? The switch wont work no matter which setting its on so i know its not the resistor.

We actually figured it out... One of the wires became loose. We were driving down the road and it came on after we went over a bump... so tomorrow we are going to re solder it.. glad it was just something simple
