So my belts were squeaking and I had WD 40 and a Belt Spray. I went on youtube and this guy said to use WD 40. I'm new to this car thing and I used WD 40. I went online to double check and I'm starting to see thay everyone's saying that WD 40 is bad because it's a lubricant and I need friction in the bands. What do I do! Lol

You buy new belts. Although the make stuff that stops the squeaking (it's not WD-40), squeaking belts indicates they are dry and don't have a lot of friction. The stop squeak stuff slightly dissolves the rubber, making them more grippy and pliable. But it's not a permanent fix. Just buy some new ones and put them on. It's not hard.

Yeah don't be a *******, just buy new belts... it's probably $40 worth of parts... When one breaks because they're old and cracked you'll probably end up stuck somewhere wishing you had bought new ones.

Also, anyone who says WD-40 is a lubricant is a fucking moron. It's a solvent designed for displacing water and it dries up pretty fast... it's an awful lubricant... there is way too much bullshit information on the internet these days...
