Bed-lined roof rack!

Ok, first of all this was pretty simple to do, it took a few hours from beginning to end. Started off by just removing the rack, the hardest part of all was finding the star pattern wrench key that fits all the screws.

It looks real funny without the roof rack, i met another X driver at an intersection on the way to town to get the bedliner, and he threw his hands up like "why would you do that?" haha.

Next i just put two coats of bed-liner on.

Then just re-assembled everything and screwed it down!

I wont be putting the basket or the roof wing back on, i like the new look, Some will love it,some will hate it, but if you plan on doing this just have about 3 cans of rust-oleum bedliner to avoid making multiple runs to the store. Tell me what cha' think!

Rustoleum Bedliner I think is what he used...that is what I used on my roof rack.

If you want to do step rails, I would reccomend the bed liner as well...the gritty texture makes for a grippy step in all conditions!
I just scuffed them up with some sand paper...nothing to thorough...just enough for a non smooth surface...then rinsed them off to get the dust off the surface...let it dry...sprayed it....

held up good thus far ~10 months or so for me
Not sure which grit I used...it wasn't rocket science...I just used something gritty enough to scuff the surface. Nothing here was too precise.

Haven't thought about outlining the lettering in red...that would look awesome, but a pain to do!
Heat gun is brilliant on the sticker lettering...I used a razor and painfully peeled them off...took forever without breaking every little strand of material. Should have thought of the heat gun!
