AEM dry flow "oem fit" doesn't fit...

Hey all, I have a 2002 3.3L, I picked up the AEM dry flow filter for that vehicle, however you cannot get the filter box to close on that filter . AEM technical support claims I have to move the clips on the airbox which makes no sense... Any other ideas??

Old post, but in case someone searches...

You have to modify your airbox clips. I used a dremel with a spherical grinding bit.

The filter seal is a thick rubber that is fairly hard, thus not easy to compress. If you look at where the air box clips hinge/pivot on...there is a plastic ridge that holds it in place. What you need to do is trim back about 2 mm of plastic...which allows the clip to sit 2mm closer to the airbox seam, which then gives it about 2mm of extra reach.

It took about 30 minutes to do and about 2 hours of screwing around with other ideas that didn't work. I actually thought to look at the clips because of this post...so thank you!

AEM 28-20031 is a nice alternative to the KN if you don't want to deal with an oiled filter...and I keep reading that they filter better than KN, which is why I switched from KN to AEM.
