Start by diagnosing if your distributor is old and worn out. There should be a thread on here that details diagnosing and replacing that
Acceleration issues PLEASE HELP!
So, i've been having issues with my acceleration for the last 8 months. It accelerates fine from a stop;However, When im driving occasionally when i try to speed up it laggs and then suddenly jumps forward. It's intermittent and thrown no codes. And it doesn't feel like a misfire. I've been trying to self diagnose it since it first started, but cant figure it out so i finely took it to a mechanic to diagnose it. 
The mechanic told me he could find nothing wrong with it and to use 93 octane gas because my engine isn't supposed to use ethonal?? I drive a 2004 nissan xterra 3.3L. Is it true that my car cant handle ethonal? or what could be the issue? Thank you
