I have done some searching on here and have not found anything identical to my issue. My ABS light came on about a month back. Complete brake job was done, rotors, calipers, pads, etc... Light went off for about a month and my brakes began to pulsate when stopping. It progressively got worse until the ABS light came back on My brakes work perfectly fine with the ABS light on. On occasion the ABS light will turn off and the brakes will pulsate when stopping.

Could this be a relay problem? Wheel speed sensor? Etc?

I have a cheap code reader and I do not pull any codes when plugging it in.

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks guys!

What year Xterra?

Grab the service manual here:

Check out the ABS section. I know for the 00-04 models you have to jumper specific pins on the OBD2 connector which will cause the ABS light to flash a numeric code. The codes are defined in the ABS section. I just use a paper clip for my 2000 X. Let us know what code you pull.
